Specific Hours: 40 hours per week  

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Children's Home Registered Manager to join our already established Residential Team at Bay View. You’ll be working in one of our family feel children’s homes in Bolton-le-Sands, Carnforth with a maximum of four young people per home.

Our service requires individuals who will help guide young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to success and who are dedicated to supporting our ethos. As well as this, you will support in providing a safe, secure, homely and positive environment for the children and young adults in the home so that their lives are progressively improved.

To provide dynamic, inspirational leadership and to manage the day to day operations of the Home so that the lives of all of the young residents are progressively improved and the Home is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.  To assist in the continuous improvement and development of the quality, image and reputation of the Home. 

Role Responsibilities

  • To manage the day to day operations of the Home in such a way that the National Standards, laid down by Ofsted, are consistently exceeded.
  • To purposefully and systematically improve the lives of all the young people who are resident at the home.
  • To build positive and effective working relationships with all relevant external people and bodies, including family, friends, placing authorities, the police and healthcare providers.
  • To build and maintain a culture of trust and mutual respect between all involved in the home, both children and members of staff.
  • To consistently achieve an occupancy level of 100%.
  • To control costs efficiently and effectively and to within the agreed budget
  • To manage staff fairly and professionally so that all of the above objectives can be achieved and the level of staff turnover is at the lowest possible level commensurate with employing staff of the right quality.
  • The Registered Manager is aware of all relevant competitors, their standards and methods of operation and ensures that the Home develops and maintains a sustainable competitive advantage over its competitors.
  • All legal requirements, Ofsted standards and the policies and procedures of Bay View Childcare are adhered to at all times by all members of staff.
  • The Registered Manager ensures that all legal health and safety requirements and the company’s health and safety policies and procedures are complied with at all times.
  • The Registered Manager participates constructively and proactively in the weekly management meeting and the monthly Board Meeting.
  • Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of duties and you may be asked to undertake such other duties that are required commensurate with the role. 

Essential Criteria

  • You must have a recognised social work qualification i.e. QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) and QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ previous experience within the last 5 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children and, for at least 1 year, requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role.
  • Must be licensed to drive a manual gear car and have use of own car and be able to undertake on-call duties (rota shared between 5).
  • Be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Children’s Home legislation and inspection requirements for Ofsted and a thorough knowledge of child protection/safeguarding procedures and protocols.
